Is Stem Cell Research Morally and Ethically correct? Yes.
Stem Cell research is an issue that we regard as highly controversial. I think that it is in our best interests to continue this research, for it is an imperative study for the future of humanity. through stem cell research, we have already broken through the first barriers of helping paraplegic regain their ability to walk, and cure diseases such as Parkinsons and diabetes. These are few of many outcomes we could expect through stem cell research.
On the other hand, those who oppose stem cell research hold their bias because it is either morally or ethically wrong in their eyes. Some believe that these aborted fetus’ should be treated as human life and using them in labs is unethical. The facts are that thousands of aborted fetus’ are medically disposed of every year even though they had the potential saving lives. Is that ethical? No.
Today, Stem Cell research is completely legal, the question is whether or not it should be under congressional ban. Today Stem Cell research is placed on congressional ban. For what? Because the embryos used are “living” (although they have no organs, nor do they have a nervous system) so the government can not fund the research. I think that this is more of an ethical issue and cannot be resolved through facts but can only be reversed if people’s opinions change.
In conclusion, this research SHOULD BE funded by our government! I feel as if the government is obligated to fund this research, for it is imperative to our lives. By our government not funding stem cell research, we lose valuable resources and the efforts being made to cure disease and miraculously change peoples’ lives are not as high as they should be.
